Practicing answering Higher-Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) questions orally is important for pupils for several reasons. The practice will improve their communication skills. Speaking responses to HOTS questions helps pupils develop their verbal communication skills as well as confidence. It is beyond doubt that regular practice with oral responses can also help pupils gain confidence in sharing their thoughts and participating in discussions. Here is the second part of the HOTS questions which SPM 1119/3 candidates can use for their enrichment practices.
Teachers can conduct a few activities using the HOTS questions and sample answers which are prepared by me. Pupils can be paired to take turns asking and answering the HOTS questions. Pupils should be given freedom to choose any questions to be posed to their partner. Another alternative would be to assign the candidates to suggest another possible response for each of the HOTS questions. This can reinforce their thinking skills in responding to the HOTS questions. Additionally, for sure, teachers can also ask the candidates to offer other responses which could be better than the ones shared. Perhaps, in dealing with lower intermediate candidates, the teacher may want to focus more on making sure the weak learners understand clearly every question and suggested answer. Whatever it is, any kind of enriching activities should be effective as long as the candidates get the practice that they need so that they are more well prepared for the SPM 1119/3 examination.
Notes:
1. HOTS questions number 1-24 can be found in the previous sharing.
2. Do edit the questions and suggested answers, if necessary.

What can we do to encourage and make sure pupils discuss the question with their partner in class. Is it appropriate to comment if some mistakes made?
